Dates: March 29-31, 2019
Age Group: Adult Women (18+)
Home Base/Meeting Location: Durham, NC
Experience Level: Prior backpacking experience is suggested, but not required. Minimum fitness requirements for this trip include that participants should be able to carry a 30-40lb pack, ascend/descend stairs without problem, and sustain low-intensity cardio (jogging, biking, elliptical, etc) for a 30 minutes.
Trip Description: The group will strut our way into another season of backpacking by gearing up for a potentially chilly weekend of exploring and learning together in the Appalachian mountains. The trip will gather in Durham, NC on Friday, March 29th at 9:00AM to pack and drive to the trailhead. We will hike and camp in the backcountry, embracing the beauty of early spring, on Friday night, Saturday, and Sunday morning. We will return to Durham at 3:00PM on Sunday, March 31st. This trip is ideal for women who have been backpacking before but are looking for either a refresher, to learn some new skills, or just to meet other women from the Triangle area who enjoy hanging out in the mountains. Feel free to sign up with a friend or by yourself! We will have plenty of time to build our own “trail family” friendships during the trip. Our reflection theme for the weekend will be life transitions (be it relationships, jobs, school, kids, etc) and how we can walk with Spring into our next season, our next challenge. As always, all essential gear is available for borrowing, and scholarships are available upon request.
Cost: $200 (including $40 deposit due at registration)
